MEDICAL ID THEFT can involve not only the PATIENTS but the MEDICAL BUSINESS as well.
Patient information may be stolen by an employee of the hospital by the use of the lack of identity theft protection, This can be done by computers, medical records, EMR, the lack of shredding information and more.
The patient becomes a victim of identity theft without often even knowing what is id theft. On identity theft, the patient may not know they were victimized until a credit check was done maybe years later only to learn their identity was stolen.
Questions arise: Where do I report my stolen Identity? Is this the same as identity fraud?
Do I call the Local Police?
Do I report my credit theft to the FTC?
How do I receive a credit report, id credit report, or get credit monitoring? With credit card theft of the rise, am I liable for all these bills? Will the local police know what to do or will they have enough training in this area? I read where one city in Virginia allowed one woman to lose two businesses due to their lack of training or actions.
Do I need credit monitoring or identity theft protection? Is that some fancy way to collect my money after identity theft occurs?
After I report id theft, am I safe? Is my home safe? Can they find out where I live and what I am worth?
Being a victim of identity theft can come from so many different ways.
Report all crimes to your local police, FTC, credit card companies and file a id theft fraud affidavit.
Medical victims or medical business thefts can occur from hiring the wrong employees and stealing your good name and information. Often they sell the information to others.
